The Wilcox House, (identified since 1920 as the "Masonic Temple"),  was originally built as a two-story, gable roofed Federal style hotel around 1827. In 1861 the building was enlarged by the addition of the third story and a three-story porch across the front facade. The original front facade on the first floor has been altered by the removal of the original six-over-six windows and the insertion of large plate glass display windows.
